NYPAA Alumnus initiates Project BUKLAT in Rizal


In attempt to enliven the lost Filipino values out in the street children in the Province of Rizal, an alumnus of the 6th National Youth Parliament Markharem P. Blanquisco along with his fellow in the Young Leaders Alliance of Rizal (YLAR) initiated an extension program entitled as Project BUKLAT: Story Telling Caravan for street children ages 2-6 years old.

In a short program launching happened in Binangonan, Rizal last October 9, Hon. Johann C. Nido, Brgy. Captain of Pilapila commended the volunteers and story tellers in reaching out to enliven the moral values in the young minds of the out-of-school children their barangay. A total of 32 street children benefited in the pilot run of Project BUKLAT in Binangonan.

When Project BUKLAT visited the City of Antipolo, volunteers where amazed on the participation of street children selling sampaguita, candles, cigarettes and pastries as they stopped and joined the volunteers in a two-hour story telling session under the Dimasalang Park landmark. Twenty one (21) street children served as the beneficiaries in the BUKLAT kicks-off in Antipolo.

The two weeks-old program envision to caravan Project BUKLAT on its widest campaign to promote Filipino values in the young minds of the street children. Empowered with its strong alliance with the National Youth Parliament Alumni Association Inc. (NYPAA, Inc.), it is expected that the caravan will soon be adopted by other NYPAA chapters around Metro Manila and its nearby regions.

Project BUKLAT was inspired with short stories that teach moral lesson especially Filipino values that seem to be lost in children nowadays. It runs every Saturdays and Sundays in selected barangays and municipalities in the Province of Rizal.
