At first, YLAR focused in finding singers for the event, but because of the short span of time for the preparation, too short to learn a new song, some refused the invitation. And that incident made an idea pop up, tunog or sound do not generally mean music, so, poets and dancers were tapped.

With creative minds, talented voices, and good hearts working together, the preparation of this program was successfully done.

Sounds system was borrowed in the campus auxiliary-in-charge, Mr. Rodrigo Anore while the back drop of the event is a recycled tarpaulin and the talents did not expect anything in exchange of their performance.

Program Proper:
The celebration started with a prayer lead by Joan Rosaldo, singing of the national anthem by Himlahi Chorale, and an opening remark by the dean and adviser of Dr. Marilou C. Pantaleon. Dr. Pantaleon discussed the objectives of the program, welcomed the audience and thanked their interest in the activity, and introduced the speaker of the event. Prof. Danilo Amigo in his message, made the listeners have a glimpse of the history connecting the Independence Day to our national hero down to our province.

After loading information to the mind, the program proceeded to the highlight, the ear- clapping moment of “Tunog Malaya”. First, the audience heard the songs “Believe in Dreams” and “Wake Up” sung by Jollibee Luberisco and Arcgel Hinggo. Even though those songs did not seem to be appropriate for the theme at first, but as you interpret it, the lyrics is heavy, strong and brave. Then, Lyka Krisele Jardolin made the listeners felt to be back in their mother’s womb as she sung the “Ugoy ng Duyan”. Next is Alvin Mendiola in his poem recital that turned into a guessing game that really awakens the crowd, his poem is entitled as “Bandila”. Then, it was followed by the performances of YLAR Morong Chapters representatives, Ishy Icapin and April Obusan with “Bayan Ko” and “Isang Lahi”. Their talent and their presence were heart felt; they truly showed support and cooperation in the success of this event. And as we thought, Himlahi Chorale will be the last to perform as they sung “Bayan Ko”. Rita Mendoza, the master of ceremony entertained everybody with her comic trivia, stories matched up with her jolly personality. And, poof! The waiting is over; Kevin Estrada arrived just in time. Who will not STOP, LOOK and LISTEN as he rocked URSA with “Tatsulok” and his very own composition, “Dapat Mabatid ng mga Pilipino”.

The program ended right in time, 10:00am, the classes resume as if nothing happened but for those who were really touched, something was marked in the heart. And finally, hope that this celebration will be repeated next year and the next and the next, until it became a tradition. Why not? This is the first and definitely not the last.
